November 14, 2011

Lots to catch up on:

So, it's been almost a month since I've updated their stories, and much much has happened. First off, Annabelle is walking!!! Yup! We were very excited when she started this. She was doing one or two steps here and there, and then one day, she stood up and walked from the hallway to the window in our room. She fell down every few steps, but kept getting right back up and walking again. Very determined little girl. This was about two weeks ago, and she's been walking consistently every since. I don't think I've seen her crawl again since she found her new mobility.

With the walking has come the best joy of all....SLEEP!!! We are all sleeping much much better. At first, we were doing the co-sleeping thing with me in her bed, and then she would wake and play for hours and kick me, hit me, etc. Then we put her in her bed to cool our tempers and after a few visits every five minutes or so to calm her down she was asleep. The next night, she slept all night. Yes, ALL night! And a bigger perk is the actual process of putting her to bed now. We give her milk, and then lay her down, and she's out. Unbelievable. In fact the last couple nights, I've given her a bottle, then stood up and she leans for her bed fussing. I lay her down and she's alseep. AND...even more unbelievable is tonight. She was halfway through her bottle and she sat up in the rocking chair, reached for her bed and fussed. I put her down and she's sleeping! I will cherish this for the rest of my parenting.

A really cute thing she has started to do is say 'yes'. It's not English, but more so a baby-talk-affirmation. It sounds something like 'doo-wah'. It's super adorable. I'll ask her, "Are you hungry?" And she will nod and say "Doo-wah." As she heads over to her high chair, crying upon arrival. She says the same thing when I ask her if she needs to go potty, and also when I ask her if she is all done. Really cute.

At Halloween, we went to the pumpkin patch in Marble Falls and took some pictures, fed the goats and let the kids run around. Liam was a magician and Annabelle was a bunny. I don't think there could have been more adorable kids there. Annabelle had a blast trying to pick up pumpkins, feeding leaves to the goats, walking around like usual and then doing a two step crawl, just enough to dirty her knees before heading out. That evening, we went trick-or-treating and for the first year, Liam was really into it. Annabelle, not as enthusiastic. She mainly wanted someone to carry her around. She was pretty pooped by night fall.

One evening, Phillip decided to introduce the kids to horse back riding....on him. Annabelle took to it immediately and enjoyed every second, even trying to climb on his back while Liam rode. Then they both rode together.

Another fun thing Annabelle has taken to is having Phillip bounce her on the exercise ball. He plops her belly on it and bounces her and she lets out the biggest chuckle. She can't get enough of it. She will go over to the ball, stand and yell "AAAAHHH!" in her one-year-old demanding voice.

We've started giving her a sippy cup now with water and she likes that. She drinks out of it fine, and we will both be glad when we can get rid of the bottles and nipples and bottle liners and the hideous bottle rack that takes up a gruesome amount of space on our counter. That will be awesome.

I would say that everything is rainbows and butterflies, but that's only about 90% true. Annabelle is
still a loud child. She screams all the time. Liam and Phillip have taken to calling her Ball 'O Cry. It's kinda funny. They aren't making fun of her, but at this point it's more finding the humor to make it through yell-fest. But, I'll take the yelling if it means sleep, walking, and more fun times.
