Monday:

So, Liam has this Mylar balloon that Bonny gave to him that is about two feet by one foot. Annabelle has always loved balloons. When she was very little, around two or three months, we would get a balloon from the store, usually HEB, and she would just stare at it. Even if she was in a bad mood, she'd stop crying and just stare at it in amazement. So, now that she is older, and can do so much more, she has taken to playing with them. This one made a very fun noise when she pulled it by the string, and it would bounce in her face. She would rattle it up and down, making as much noise as she could. Liam wasn't so enthused. He didn't want her playing with it at all and took it from her and put it on the couch where she couldn't reach it. After Dad talked to him about how he didn't want it until she did, and then me re-instilling the importance of sharing, she let her have her fun.

Sunday:

Tonight for bedtime, I brushed Liam's teeth while Phillip rocked Annabelle in her room. He wanted to finish rocking her, so I read Liam a story and put him to bed. I went and sat in Annabelle's room across from Phillip as he rocked her. It was one of those priceless moments in life. At first, Phillip thought she would want to go to me once she knew I was there, but she didn't. She looked over at me, then went right to back to lock eyes with Phillip. She finished her bottle, then did a little burping, and some snuggles with Dad and we both told her goodnight after that. She's a daddy's girl all the way.

Saturday:

I had to make a quick run to JoAnn's fabric today so that I could get some more cloth to finish the bed spread in our room. I took Annabelle with me, all wrapped up of course, and I still get surprised and I still love when people stop and oogle at her. She brings such joy to people, even ones she has just met. She doesn't hesitate to warm them with a smile, and batting of her eyes. It's impossible not to smile at her.

Friday:

I laid in bed at 7:00a after I heard Liam wake, and really had to give myself a pep talk for the day. I heard Annabelle wine a little bit, and asked Liam to go give her a binky, and when I went in to get her a little while after that, I found half a dozen binkies in her bed. I don't know where they all came from, but she had a little binky buffet in her crib, and I think she was quite happy. I got her up anyway.

Thursday:

We were supposed to do laundry today, but went out to Dad and Linda's to drop off some stuff for them to make jerky for me and Phillip, and we picked up the dogs. Annabelle got hungry, and Grandpa fed her, which I thought was kinda cute. I don't think I've ever seen him hold a baby and feed them a bottle. I wish I would have snapped a picture of it, but I didn't.

In the afternoon, after the kids' not so good nap (about 30 minutes) we went to Bonny's house to maybe, potentially, possibly, in the off chance, do some sewing. We were there about 3 hours, and I got the rectangles cut for pillow cases and Bonny got her fabric ironed. That's about a typical day. Annabelle was not having me leave her sight or arms reach. Very clingy. At one point, I was able to look in her mouth as she screamed and saw she has a third tooth coming in! That explains it.

In the evening we went to Freddy's Place for dinner since I didn't thaw anything from the freezer. There, they had a little play scape and a swing that Violet was just dying to push someone on. Since Liam is not a big fan of swings, I put Annabelle in, and she loved it! I hoping I can bank on at least one of my kids riding roller coasters with me. I think this will be something me and Annabelle will do together.

Wednesday:

I took the kids to the dentist with me in the morning, and left Annabelle in her car seat when I took her in, which made me realize she's really heavy and really long, and we may have to transition her to a bigger car seat soon. After that we went to the grocery stores, which was a lot to do all in one morning. Again, I am oh so thankful for the wrap. The kids had a pretty good nap too, and I'm wishing I would have done some house cleaning instead of napping with them.

May 24, 2011

Tuesday:

We went to play group at the Park in Circle C, and when we got home, Annabelle went potty on her potty! That's a big deal! I think it was totally just chance that I 'caught' that pee. I noticed that she was dry when we got home, and since I had her cover off, I just put her on the potty and she peed! I'm hoping that the more I get her to sit on it, the more she'll be used to sitting on it when really potty training begins. In the mean time, the occasional diaper I don't have to change due to her peeing on the pot, I'm happy for.

May 23, 2011

Monday:

Annabelle has started to crawl like CRAZY! She is really all over the house. Back of the house to the front of the house. Bedroom to bedroom, and of course, her favorite, the kitchen, specifically, Honey dog food bowl. She has also started to try and stand up. something I'm not too excited about since it could mean walking sooner, and then running sooner. Not sure how I feel about chasing two kids right now. We shall see how all this goes.

May 22, 2011

Sunday:

We didn't go to church today, since we had a busy weekend, so we just hung out at home. It was really nice. Nothing really momumental happened. But one thing worth talking about is Annabelle's fascination with anything corded. Seriously, it's like she sees the cord, and gets an overwhelming desire to get to it and chew on it. Even if that means squeezing through the six inch opening between the coffee table and the couch. Something in her little baby brain alerts her that it's a destiny she must fulfill...cord chewing. I'm hoping this passes soon. When Liam sees her, he goes Anbel Mae! Don't chew that cord! Very helpful.

May 21, 2011

Saturday:

Annabelle woke up in a good mood, after I made Liam's oatmeal, I made her a bottle. She was rather disinterested in her milk, and repeatedly gravitated to the dog food bowl. Liam did the same when he started crawling. Also, they are lured to the greasy sliding glass door track. I used to simply re-route Liam, and he found something else to go after. Not Annabelle. She will turn 180 degrees and attempt to return to her last mission. I managed to find her something else to interest her while Liam finished his breakfast. Later in the afternoon, Annabelle wanted to play with Liam's car. It is a bit big for her and she pulled it over on herself several times. It was after the third rollover that I decided we needed to get out of the house (Liam wasn't too excited about her playing with his car, either). We went to the grocery store. I am hesitant to wrap Annabelle, as it seems to draw attention and I prefer to be anonymous and covert in public so as to have as little unsolicited interaction as possible. Thus I carried her car seat in, placing it inside the shopping cart. I grabbed a frozen pizza and some produce, as well as wheat berries. Liam was very excited when we arrived at the checkstand so I had to keep telling him to hold my hand as I distractedly placed my items on the conveyer. The cashier politely inquired as to whether I wished to purchase the bag of wheat berries lodged in the shopping cart partly hidden by Annabelle's car seat. I replied that I did and was terribly embarrassed, as so far only Ruth has managed to involuntarily commit petty larceny on at least two occasions. Meanwhile, Liam continued to run about and Annabelle looked on at the entire episode with a sleepy disinterest. I determined by her wailing on the way home that she was still hungry after gulping her previous bottle, so I gave her a banana. She donated part of the banana to the fruit flies by placing it on the floor. Without thinking, I tossed it in Honey's food bowl thinking that the dog would enjoy the treat (Ruth reminded me later that Honey doesn't like bananas). I stepped away to wash dishes and heard silence. I peeked over the counter and of course both Liam and Annabelle looked with awe and desire at Honey's food bowl with the banana in it. I decided that since Annabelle wore as much of the banana as she ate that I would bathe her and Liam that evening. After baths, I read to Liam and put Annabelle to bed.

Friday:

All day today Annabelle has been pretty cranky. I know she has her second tooth coming in, so I'm guessing that's what it is. She doesn't finish but half of her bottle when she drinks it, and then just doesn't want it. Maybe she's overwhelmed with all the new spaces and places she is crawling too. Who knows. By the time I figure it out, it will be over, or something else, so I'll just wait it out. It's not that big of deal, it just means she wants to be held more, which is a perk since she usually gets fussy after long-term holding.

May 19, 2011

Thursday:

We went to Walmart today and while browsing the baby section, which I can't leave the store without doing, I though I might was well buy Annabelle her early first birthday gift (very early) of a potty. Yes, I know, she's only eight months, but we plan on just testing the waters around 9 months. They say girls are easier than boys, and Liam really took to it pretty easily around 15 months, and I could have started earlier with him. We will see. Nanny Frances thinks I'm crazy, but I don't care. I figure in the least, Annabelle can just get used to sitting on it for now, and I won't have to venture over that mountain (which was quite trivial with Liam) later. She likes it! I think I'm going to start putting her on it after a diaper change and just seeing if that catches on. I do want to wait till she starts climbing more to really start diving into it.

May 18, 2011

Wednesday:

Nothing really exciting today. Some grocery store business, and then nap, then Phillip home. I did carry Annabelle in newflower in the wrap and was chatting with a pregnant lady who has a 2 year old and due any time. Her mother came over and said, "We saw you walk in the store and I told her her, 'That's going to be you in a few months!'" We all chuckled and I gave her a card with my info on it in case she does want a baby wrap.

May 17, 2011

Tuesday:

Let me just say I was super proud of myself today! I got up, showered, ate breakfast, got the kids fed and dressed, out the door, to the chiro, to HEB, and then made it to the park for playgroup and lunch by 11:40-ish! I felt like an all-star-mom! At the park, Annabelle hung out in the wrap till we ate and Bonny brought a blanket to put on the ground for her to hang out on while we all sat at the picnic table. She had fun. When we got home, she napped while I did Yoga, which of course, she had to wake up in the middle of. I got her up and brought her in the living room so I could finish. And then, of course, Liam gets up and they attempt to play together. Annabelle wanted to play with everything he had, and since she is able to get to those things now by crawling, it wasn't all that zen and relaxing or focused as it usually is. I gave her half a pear to eat to try and entertain her till I was done, and in the middle of my deep relaxation, I got clammy, cold, sticky baby hands squeezing the inside of my left arm. Yeah, that brought be back to reality! I have now noted to make sure to have the kids either napping, or contained while doing Yoga.

May 16, 2011

Monday:

Annabelle has really picked up crawling. She really gets around now. She used wiggle only one, maybe two knees before she belly flopped on the floor, but now, she's up to making it around the living room. For her second day at it, I'd say she's progressed a lot! Today she only napped twice. Once in the morning from about 10:00 to almost 1:00. So, that meant that there was no way we could have her and Liam nap at the same time. She then had her later nap which ended up being so late that she didn't go down for the evening nap. I think she's in the middle of that transition from three naps to two. I'm still trying to figure out how, when that happens, I will get her and Liam on the same schedule, so that I can have a little break during the day.

She does have another tooth coming in on the bottom, right next to the first one in the center, so maybe that's what all the weird napping stuff is about. Who knows.

Liam decided today to take some pictures, again, which I'm finding to be a better and better idea, while Dad seems to be on the opposite page. I think the more we let Liam take pictures the more pictures we will have of Annabelle. Being the second kid, she doesn't get as many pictures taken as Liam did, so it's kind of a perk having him snapping shots of her. Today he got a picture of her after she crawled from the rug to the toy shelf, then another of her in the kitchen after she crawled to the fridge and was reaching for the broom. She looked very mischievous.

May 15, 2011

Sunday:

We went to church today, and I figured I would leave Annabelle in the nursery, so I didn't take the wrap. Whoops! That was a mistake. I took her to the nursery, to where she immediately grew a frowny face, and I stayed to rock her to sleep. She fell asleep, and when I laid her down, she woke up. I handed her to the nursery worked, Tammy, and she didn't like that much. I thought she would calm down in a little bit, so I left, and I sat in service for a minute or so, till I couldn't fight the nagging urge in my mommy gut to go back in there. I did, and she was still screaming, so took her and she calmed down in a couple seconds and fell asleep. I decided to stay with her in the nursery since there was just a children's performance today, I didn't mind missing that.

We got home with Nanny Frances so I got run out to a meeting, and from the time of this morning before I left to when I got back Annabelle started CRAWLING! She doesn't get very far on her hands and knees, but will crawl about two or three mini baby crawls and then fall her on tummy and ooch the rest of the way. She can really get around now. Poor Liam is going to have a lot of trouble keeping her away from all his stuff. He and I were trying to build blocks, and she would come over and grab them and knock them down. I was really funny, but kind of a reality check of where my future days are going to be and how much refereeing they are going to contain. I think she is going to pick up this mobility thing pretty quickly since she sees everyone else getting around, she's going to want to follow.

May 14, 2011

Saturday:

We went to Amy's house so she could show me the ropes and the inside scoop of the Doula collective I am working with. I took the kids with me, and she has a baby that is about the same age as Annabelle. I don't think they really know what to think about each other yet. Annabelle did end up taking a nap in the wrap while I was there and I felt bad that I had to wake her when we left to get loaded in the car.

When we got home, we napped, almost three hours, and the woke up for a couple more bottles and bed. It was thankfully a not that exciting evening with Annabelle.

May 13, 2011

Friday:

This morning, Gigi and Papa left, and Annabelle woke up just in time to say good-bye to them, just before they pulled out of the driveway. I think they were glad to be able to get some last second Anbel cuddles.

The four of us hung out for a while before Phillip headed to work, and out of no where, Annabelle started clapping! I was sitting on the floor with her, dancing and then I started clapping my hands and then she did too! It was so cute! I'm so glad Phillip was here to be able to see it. Also glad that he was able to snap some pictures.

May 12, 2011

Thursday:

The morning got off to a pretty slow start, which meant I was bound to be behind for laundry day, but thankfully, this proved to be wrong. We ran a couple errands even though it was raining pretty hard all morning, we didn't mind the wet pavement. One of those errands was to Central Market where we decided to buy some Gelato, which of course, you can't get without taste testing a few flavors first. They had little plastic spoons that they gave sample bites on, and each time we were about to take a bite of the sample, Annabelle would open up her mouth really wide and lean in towards our spoons. Poor baby, wanted some ice cream. We did end up giving her the spoons, and I think that sufficed.

She had lots of fun with Gigi and Liam after nap today. They all played for a bit on the bed in the room, and then after we made play doh, Liam and Annabelle had all kinds of crazy fun being loud and playing together. She almost started crawling in all her excitement. She would go from sitting to hands and knees and rock vigorously, and ooch her little knees just a tiny bit, and then squeel and then go back to sitting up. She did this over and over.

May 11, 2011

Wednesday:

My phone rang this morning at 6:00am, and I tried to quickly grab it as to not wake Annabelle, who's crib we moved into our room since Gigi and Papa are staying with us a few days, but I don't think that worked. It wasn't long after I answered it that I saw her little baby head pop over the railing looking around. It's the cutest thing to see. It was a mom in labor that had called, and I headed out to go see her for a bit, until we decided she should go home and rest, which meant, I could go home too. When I got home, Liam was heading down for his nap, and not too much after that, Annabelle woke up from hers. Mona and I thought she was going to wake up Liam with all her screaming and yelling, but she didn't. She was on the living room rug, and would ooch her way over to her exersaucer and it looked almost as though she was about to grab the top of it and pull herself up to standing. I know it's not long till she does this, so I have got to keep a good eye on her.

May 10, 2011

Tuesday:

Gigi and Papa came in today! Annabelle was very excited and I think she remembers both of them. Mona asked to buy her a couple dresses, so I thought it was a great opportunity to go through her clothes as she is growing out of most of them. So I went through her drawers and bagged up the clothes that are too small for her and organized her drawer so that outfits and basic onsies are an easy grab.

She didn't have a long morning nap, and her afternoon nap, was limited to just an hour, which is very rare. She didn't go back to sleep as both me and Mona tried, but she had a great snooze at Target while we shopped. On the way home, she was done though. She was ready for solid food meal and to be out of her car seat. I'm glad by the time she really got going we were a block away from home.

May 9, 2011

Monday:

When Bonny and Violet were over today and Violet knocked Annabelle over at one point and was very concerned for her after her loud outbreak of tears. On a good note of that, Annabelle had her mouth open long enough for me to see that she is cutting her first tooth! Finally! I was so excited. That's why she's been kinda grouchy all day and I know that I may have some rough nights ahead of me. On the note of teething, we just found out that the Hyland's Teething Tablets have been recalled due to 16 times the belladona they were supposed to have in some batches. Yikes! So, I'm glad we know, but sad that we don't have them. There aren't many things that are much safer than Hyland's, but we will have to do without. Here's praying she's an early teether!

May 8, 2011

Sunday:

Today is Mother's Day. It was really great. There is a lot of talk about what Mother's day should be about, and as it may seem selfish, I like to take a break from my daily Mom grind, and just relax. I did, in the evening time, do Annabelle's first Mother's Day project. I had bought some stamping ink at the fabric store the last time we were there, and also some canvas like fabric. I stamped both of Annabelle's feet on the cloth and then wrote a little poem in between and it goes like this:

I'm following in your footsteps
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Mommy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Mommy,
For I must follow you.

When I first read it, it almost brought tears to my eyes, and I'm glad that I found it, because when I hang it on her wall, hopefully as I see it through out the day it will help me slow down a bit.

This is what it looks like so far. I need to get some custom frames for it.

While I was doing Liam's footprints, Phillip took some really good pictures of Annabelle in her high chair, here is one of the best.

May 7, 2011

Saturday:

Annabelle got a serenade of 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star' from Liam this morning as she woke. I thought it was the cutest thing in the world, and as Phillip got up to get the camera, Liam noticed and stopped singing. I really wish I would have caught that.

We had time for Annabelle to have her morning nap before we headed to Grandpa and Grandma Linda's house for Mother's Day lunch. I thought she would nap in the car on the way for her afternoon nap, but after a mix up in plan on seating, I ended up sitting in the back and I became all too interesting for her to nap. She did take a snooze while we were over at their house, but I wasn't too worried about a sleep schedule.

One of their cats a few weeks ago had a couple kittens. Liam was sitting next to them on the floor playing with them gently, and I sat Annabelle down where I thought was far enough out of reach of the kittens, and was later proven wrong in that. Luckily, I caught her before her little baby hands clamped down on the baby kitten.

After we got home in the evening, she was really tired and threw a bit of a fit for her evening nap, but went to bed without a peep. Lots of driving and entertainment will wear a baby out by the end of the day.

May 6, 2011

Friday:

We had planned to go get Nanny Frances today while I went to a few consultations, but when we got in the car, the ignition was locked and I couldn't turn my key. That was highly annoying to me, but I soon got over it once I realized I could just hand out with the kids all morning. Annabelle went down for a nap after a little bit, then when she woke up, we hung out for a bit until it was time for the second nap of the day in the afternoon. She's started to get down to two naps now. Once in the morning and once in the late afternoon, and then the evening one is hit or miss. We did go get Nanny Frances in the evening so Phillip and I could go out to dinner with Daniel, Marlene and Johnathan. When Frances came in, Annabelle's face lit up and she went right to her. Frances said that when she put Annabelle down for bed, she fell asleep on her shoulder holding her hand. She thought it was so sweet and said she could just hold all night long. I know exactly what she means.

May 5, 2011

Thursday:

Today we did laundry, and of course, by the end of the night, there was still some to do. Mainly towels. I wanted to get them done before bed, so since Annabelle was kinda cranky, I brought her over next to me while I folded. Liam joined us, and between him and I, were able to keep her laughing playing peek-a-boo till we were finished. Liam would put a dish towel on her head, and then she'd quickly pull it off and we'd both yell "Peek-a-boo!" and she'd chuckle and laugh every time.

May 4, 2011

Wednesday:

This morning, when Annabelle was drinking her bottle and I was finishing up in the kitchen, I looked up and saw this picture. I guess she decided to roll over, but still want her milk, and this was the easiest way to go about drinking it. It was too funny I just had to take a picture of it.

We did our groceries like usual, and then came home for nap. It was a pretty typical day after that. Nothing too exciting. She is starting to eat a lot more solids, but I've noticed it varies from day to day. Some days she will eat solids every meal, and then others just at dinner, and sometimes, although rare, she will just settle for milk all day. Tonight, she did have guacamole for the first time and I think she really liked it. She was eating a banana and I gave her a small dollop of guacamole on her tray and she reached right for it and smushed it in her mouth. She reached for more, so to make it easier for her, I have her a bigger spoonful. She ate it all, total about a third cup. I'm glad I can get her into avocados.

May 3, 2011

Tuesday:

I did all the house cleaning today in the morning, so saw it fit to turn on some cleaning tunes. Annabelle loves this. Any kid of music or sounds that have any kind of rhythm, she will start to dance and sway back and forth. She seems to be very drawn to music. I wonder where this could go. It's so interesting how different she is from Liam when he was this age. I'm not comparing them to hold one over the other, it just makes it more real that they are each their own little person.

May 2, 2011

Monday:

We met a Doula and Mom friend of mine at Chik-fil-a today, who has kids around Liam and Annabelle's age. Her name is Amy, and she has a daughter who is 5 months old, and it was a delight seeing the two of them interact with each other. After we had lunch, we all headed to our house so Liam could nap and her kids, Rosemary who is 5, Bek who is 3 and Haddie who is 5 months could play in a bigger space.

We would put the babies on the floor together and both are at the point of crawling backwards, so they would gradually get further and further apart from each other and then fuss till be brought them back. Annabelle was way to excited about everybody being over that her afternoon nap turned to a light snooze in the wrap at Chik-fil-a and no more at home until the evening time. She was a little grouchy a few hours before bed time, but after a warm bath and a bottle, it wasn't long till she was sound asleep.

May 1, 2011

Sunday:

While Ruth went to meetings and appointments, Annabelle, Liam and I stayed home and played. Annabelle wants to crawl backward. Her favorite part is to get stuck under the couch, coffee table, and her crib bars and make shrill screeching noises. She must do it for attention. We watched a few episodes of X-Files; Annabelle will certainly be the only member of this household that likes to watch TV as much as I do. After nap, Annabelle had a big soiled diaper. I am getting used to changing a soiled cloth diaper. It is painful. The convenience of the disposable diaper in the event of a bowel movement is never lost on me when I change a cloth diaper. There is the diaper, which gets dirty, then I have to put it in a place that is not the trash, which is difficult for me to process. There is a liner, which is supposed to be disposable with the cargo. It is, but looks like a dryer sheet. Then of course there are the wipes. I always have to use 4-5, convinced that there are remnants that may not be completely visible to me, but that must be gotten. All the while, I have to step out of the room to flush the liner and the package, throw the wipes in the trashcan, and place the soiled diaper in the diaper pail. By the time I make it back to Annabelle's room, she is tangled in the crib and making squeaking noises. Liam of course just looks on with a placid gaze at his dad half way having an anxiety attack before he says glibly, 'Dad scared of Annbelle's diaper.' Annabelle decides that it is hilarious that I make such a production of changing her diaper and tells me she wants milk. She enjoyed the hummingbird finger puppet too; she wanted to eat it more than anything. She will be crawling soon. I tried to convince her yesterday that she could, but defied me by rolling over and deciding that it was more entertaining to play with the creepy blue bilingual toe-breaking creature.

April 30, 2011

Saturday:

This morning, we went to the farmer's market down town. It's a really big market with tons of vendors, and luckily, we already had cash on hand. We meant to get there around 9:30 or 10:00, but as usual, things got in the way, and we didn't end of leaving till almost 11:30. On the way, I realized that I had forgotten a bottle for Annabelle, and was really hoping she'd be okay till we got home. She was...for the most part...until the ride home. Let's just say she was very hungry, and Mommy and Daddy will no longer make this mistake. But it did instill how I wish we could breastfeed as we wouldn't ever have these issues. We got home, she got some milk, and then took nap and all was well.
