Thursday:
I was so happy to just stay home all day with the kids today. It was so nice. We didn't do anything spectacular, I started to clean the kitchen then quit because I wanted to hang with the kiddos. We all laid down to nap together, which was nice. After, I got some house bill-pay-type stuff done. And then the kids had dinner and I waited for Phillip to come home so he and I could eat together.
After he got home, and I hopped in the shower, Annabelle woke. She was inconsolable towards Phillip, so I took her. An hour or so passed and we finally all decided to head back to bed, since she was still up. I covered her with her blanket and gave her a binky and she snuggled up next to me to sleep. I think she just needs more mom time right now. That's the only thing that makes her happy, and I think I can do that. Like I have started to say...they are only so little for so long....

Wednesday:
I had play rehearsal today, which I will be very glad when I don't have to take the kids with me to. They really do take a lot of effort to maintain.
For breakfast, since we had to get out the door quickly, Annabelle had her first taste of the P-B-and-J. She loved it. I also forgot to thaw the chicken for dinner, so we all had PBJs. She was happy.
We also went to the park today, and the grocery stores. At the park, Annabelle kept trying to knock Liam's dump truck over that was holding all of the acorns he accumulated. He didn't like that.
After Phillip got home, he started to put together our entertainment center. Annabelle wanted to be very involved, and I think this made Phillip very nervous. She was still trying to understand her boundaries with it. It will come with time.

Tuesday:
The first thing I heard this morning after we woke was Annabelle yelling "NAH NAH!" by the bed holding one of her red shoes. It was cute, but I think I'm going to wait until her shoes fit her to give them back to her.
We had one of the most snuggly cuddly naps today. We all cuddled up in my bed together. We all slept over two hours. It was so wonderful. I've decided that with the lack of sleep going on right now, I'm going to do anything possible to get the most amount of sleep available.
Annabelle also has fallen in love with one of Liam's teddy bears. It's bigger than she is, but she goes over and loves and cuddles it. Liam also has three different monkeys in his room, all of which Annabelle is scared of. She sees one and then cries, hit is and crawls over to my lap fearfully. I've put them on the bottom of his stuffed toy basket.

Monday:
The weather has been beautiful. We decided to go to the park and enjoy the warm sunshine, without worrying about heat exhaustion. Annabelle played on the slides with Liam and me for a bit, and then she got tired of that, so I put her in the swing to give her a go at that. She loved that too. Her little grin is the best thing in the world, next to her little laugh that is.
In the evening, we hung out in her room as I went through some clothes a friend had given us for her. Among her clothes that she has yet to grow into are some ruby slippers I had bought her about a year ago. They are still too big for her, but she still loves to wear them. I don't like it much because not but ten seconds after I put them on her they fall off and she comes over to me with her loud command of "NAH NAH!!", which translates to, put these back on, right now! It also means, I want a banana, and give me that binkie, or any other notion she demands. I'll be glad when she can talk.
Tonight, I was having the girls over since it was Bonny's birthday a few weeks ago. Annabelle refused to go to bed, so instead of postponing our get together, I let her stay up. She entertained herself for the most part eating some crackers Beth had brought over and trying to drink our glasses of water and stick her fingers in the cupcakes. After they left, I laid down with her in bed and with her binky and blanket, she was out in no time. She slept all night too, which was nice.

Sunday:
We were going to go to church, but Annabelle was up for hours again last night. Instead, we decided to paint the living room. It all started with the goal of just painting one wall (the one the entertainment center was going to go against) and that turned into painting the entire living room and installing molding on the North wall. The kids were quite cooperative. They mostly played together and Annabelle hung out in Liam's room for the majority of the time 'reading' books. I went to check on her every now and then and take her potty. Either they were both in very mellow moods or they were high on paint fumes. Either way, we got a lot done and the kids were happy the whole time too. (I don't think they were high on paint fumes by the way.)

Saturday:
We went to an old friend of mine's wedding today. Annabelle napped on the way, which was nice. When we got there, after being stuck in traffic for an hour making us late, we debated for a while about whether it would be appropriate for us to go in still. After much discussion, we decided to go in, and by then everyone was heading out for the reception, so we just blended in with the crowd. Annabelle had lots of fun smiling at Marlene and Jonathan, who we sat with, and went on the potty twice to.
Potty training is going much better, I've finally decided I'm tired of diapers. Really ready for them to be done.

Friday:
Papa left this morning and me and the kids headed out to a BOLD rehearsal. It's really hard to focus because both of them are constantly on me asking for something. I wish they would just go and play with the other kids. It would be nice to be able to go out and do anything with other moms without feeling like it's just more work for me to carry on a conversation. It kinda becomes pointless. I know they will at some point grow out of it, and I know I'll miss it when they do. I'm always told to savor the years they are small, but to be honest, while they are the most important to savor, they are least easy to.

Thursday:
We went to Beth and Ari's house today to play, and while there, we decided to stay for lunch, which was delivered pizza from Dominos. Not the healthiest, but it's food, and she and I were both too lazy to cook. Annabelle ate 2 whole pieces of pizza! I was stunned! We left and came home and nap was just around the corner.
I laid both the kids down in my bed since Grandpa was out front cutting branches off our pear tree, right outside her window. It looks great, and Annabelle woke and came outside to join us. She loved the sunshine and had lots of fun climbing in and out of her stroller. She's learning so much.
Papa is in town till tomorrow and she is loving the company. She of course is all smiles and even though Papa really wants her to walk and couldn't be more encouraging, she still refuses with a big grin on her face.
At bed time, I almost went crazy rocking her to sleep. She went down at 8:00 and then woke at 9:00. I was in the rocking chair with her for 3 solid hours. After a while, just to let you know, you almost begin to get motion sickness. Not...NOT...cool. Ready for her sleeping to return!

October 3-12, 2011
All those days:
Yup...it's been over a week since I've added anything, and while I can make stuff, I figured the honesty of parenthood is much better and touches on the reality of it more.
I'd have to start by what is freshest on my mind. Annabelle pottying. I'll admit, I've been a slacker with it all. We've been using diapers and I haven't been offering it as much, and I have realized when she pees and poops on the floor, it's still just as aggravating. Like tonight, she did all kinds of grunting a tooting in her high chair and after dinner, she was dry in her diaper and I took her to the potty and she only peed. Not 10 minutes later, she poops on the floor. Liam announced with great enthusiasm, "Anbel DooDoo!" The other aggravating thing she has started to do is stop playing, look at me, give a loud grunt, and the when I proceed toward her, she hastily crawls away from me giggling. Little twirt.
Her sleeping has gotten pretty crazy, which adds to the fatigue, which means I don't write daily about the kids. I even had Nanny Frances over on Friday night to wake up with her so I could sleep all night. They both enjoyed it. Phillip and I have worked out a deal now that if I'm up with her at night, I get to sleep in come morning. That works for me! After further investigation of child-sleep-rebellion (which consisted of talking to mom friends) I determined that upon the brink of a major milestone, children will eat more, sleep less and be all day long cranks. Pretty much explains Annabelle right now. So, knowing this, I've been encouraging her to walk more, and been stuffing her full before bed. This also gives me more patience when I wake up with her at night. I know I'm doing nothing wrong putting her to sleep, she's just going through a phase.
Let's see, what else....Oh, we went to the park one day, something we are doing quite a lot now since the weather is nicer and Phillip is working late. She likes it a lot. There's no keeping her in the baby wrap, she'd much rather be down trying to eat rocks. We bring some cars and trucks and she and Liam have a great time. She likes to also climb on the slides and stand up and bounce up and down while holding onto the side. She thinks it's the greatest thing in the world.
Annabelle is also really into books. When I don't hear her, I go
looking for her in the house and find her sitting down somewhere,
usually on the futon in her room or on Liam's bed, and she's 'reading' a
book. Here's a cute picture of her studiously learning her words while
on the commode. I decided not to break her train of thought and tell
her it was upside down.

Like I mentioned before, Annabelle loves baby dolls. She found the one I
keep in the box with all my wraps and slings, the one I use for demoing
carriers. She pulled it out and gave it some serious snuggles. She's
too cute. So loving. She even snuggles random babies this same way
too.

Sunday:
Annabelle slept better last night, although Mona mentioned she did get up a few times. We are thinking teething is the deal now. Although, I'm not fully sold on that. I think it's walking still.
We had breakfast and the Gigi and Papa left to head back home and we four headed out to Garden ridge and Target to pick up a few things. Annabelle has almost outgrown her car seat, so we had to get her another one. Turns out they had a very limited selection, so we got Liam a new seat and are going to give Annabelle his seat.
After arriving home, we ate lunch and Annabelle went down for nap. It was pretty uneventful getting her to sleep. Maybe because it was past 2:00.

Saturday:
Thankfully,
mom watched after Annabelle during the night while they were here so we
could get some uninterrupted sleep. In the morning Ruth went to an
ICAN meeting and dad and mom and I watched after the kids. At lunch, I
gave Annabelle some tomatoes mom gave her a banana, all of which she
promptly devoured. I gave her some cheese and some turkey, then,
realizing I was 90% on the way to a sandwich, gave her a piece of
bread. Annabelle had a large lunch. Mom put Annabelle and Liam down
for a nap and mom and Ruth went for pedicures. Annabelle woke up first
and watched part of the Navy / Air Force football game with dad and I.
Then, when Liam woke up, I decided to mount the curtain rod brackets
over the sliding glass door. I brought the stepladder in and dad and I
took turns convincing Annabelle that she didn't need to climb on the
stepladder. She was quite persistent. In the evening, we ate with my
parents and Ruth's parents and Micah. We had a good time and watched
Annabelle play with her birthday stuff. She got this stuffed baby that
came in a pea pod and didn't like her being in the pod, rather, she
prefers her to be out. That should tell us something of Annabelle's
dislike of being swaddled. Annabelle woke up several times according to
mom, but was a little better than the 2 previous nights...
Here are some of her birthday pictures:

Friday:
It was so wonderful to sleep in today and to sleep all night. In the morning I gave Mona a huge hug and tried to tell her how much I appreciated her getting up with Annabelle last night. I don't think any words could touch on how wonderful it was to get a full night's sleep.
We ran some errands today at Dollar Tree, Garden Ridge and got a lot done. It was really nice to have the extra adult hands while we were out and about.
At home, the kids napped and Annabelle fought going down and woke up once during her nap. The night time was the worst. She didn't go to sleep till 1:00 in the morning, and I heard her get up at least twice during the night. I felt bad for Mona, but she insisted that she didn't mind and that it was good bonding between her and Annabelle. I'm so thankful she was such a help.

Thursday:
I finished up the laundry today and did some cleaning. We have the walkway from the living room to the kitchen blocked off since the grout has yet to be sealed and every time the kids go in there, they come out red from knee to toe. It's such a pain, and hopefully we can get it sealed this evening so I can have my kitchen and living room back.
Gigi and Papa came in this evening as well and Mona has been oh so wonderful and offered to get up with Annabelle in the night while she is going through this wake-up and stay awake routine. I look forward to a lot of sleep.
