September 28, 2011

Wednesday:

I don't know if I have written about this yet, but Annabelle has become quite fond of baby dolls.  She holds them to her chest and pats their bottom like I do her and when I say "Sweet baby..." and she will just smile away.  She loves to cuddle with one of her babies in particular.  It's a cabbage patch looking doll that has all sorts of unknown smudges on her.  (I say her but really don't know if it's a boy or girl as she/he is in a unisex outfit, but she/he does have a pink band her wrist which I found kind of odd...)  All day today, she carried the doll around where ever we went and when I had to take it out of her arms to buckle her car eat, she was never too thrilled about that.  As much as she loves it, you would think by now I would have already put it in the crib with her, but only now has that thought dawned on me.  I'll give it to her in her bed when she goes down for nap tomorrow.

Tuesday:

In the evening, I noticed Annabelle had wandered off to the back of the house and when I went back to check on her she had climbed up on Liam's bed, onto his toy box and was snuggling with his BeeBoo.  It was too funny.  She then handed it to me in the sweetest sharing motion, and I just had to snap a picture of it.

Monday:

This morning Ruth had to leave to attend a birth well before we woke up.  I awoke to Liam advising that he was so hungry.  I asked him to lay back down, offered for him to lay down in mom and dad's bed.  I told Liam that Annabelle was up late the night before and dad was so tired.  He complied and woke up again around 8:00.  He was in the living room / kitchen for a little while and he came back here and said he wanted something to eat.  I asked him again to give me a few minutes until Annabelle woke up.  He came in 10 minutes later and happily proclaimed, "Annabelle's awake now!"  I asked Liam if he work Annabelle up.  He thought about it for a second and replied, "I did not."  So I cooked eggs for myself and Annabelle, and made oatmeal for Liam.  He ate 2 bowls.  At that point I began to get nervous because I was unable to locate anyone to watch the kids and I had to be at work at noon.  I brought them in our bedroom so I could at least begin to get ready.  Annabelle showed a fondness for her car seat that was lying in the foyer, so I brought it back there with us.  So Annabelle gets in the car seat and stands up, Liam sits down, and she rested her head on his back.  At this time, Annabelle was standing toward the back of the car seat.  Then Liam decided to stand up and of course the car seat topples over backward, spilling Annabelle out near the desk.  She was stirred up, but not hurt.  I decided that was enough fun with the car seat and put it back in the foyer, upside down.  I then put Annabelle in her exer-saucer (a colorful plastic device with various barnyard toys which allows the child to stand up) while I took a shower.

Grandpa and Grandma came over to pick up Blaze and while they were here, Annabelle insisted on Grandpa reading her The Pumpkin Parable.  She has gotten so cuddly with family now.  I know Grandpa appreciated the love he got.

Sunday:

Annabelle woke up first this morning, as is characteristic of her.  She fell off of our bed again.  She either has no fear of the edge or no sense of it.  In either case, it is disturbing.  Ruth and the kids went to church as I went on a ride.  When I returned the kids were napping and Annabelle woke up in a good mood.  I think she is constipated.  I also think that she is either teething, doing some growth spurt thing, or about to walk (Ruth provided these insights).  I just know that we put her down to sleep and she is quiet for about 30 minutes.  Tonight Ruth touched up the grout and I took a bunch of garbage out to the curb for our annual bulk pickup.  Annabelle woke up at least 4 times.  Finally we decided that we would bring her into our bed.  We were actually so exasperated by the fact that Annabelle wouldn't go to sleep that we laughed like disturbed folks and joked for about 30 minutes.  Ruth finally rocked Annabelle for about 20 minutes and then put her down.  We are both very frustrated by how hard it is to get her to sleep these days.  Ruth got a call from a mom that is coming due and I almost shit myself, thinking Ruth might have to leave tonight.  Lost her mucous plug, first time mom, so I won't be alone tonight, thank god.  I probably better buy some coffee from Whole Foods, some real strong stuff.  If Ruth had to leave and I had to put Annabelle to bed, I'd have a good challenge in front of me.

Saturday:

Phillip has had a rough week, so I hung out with the kids in the morning while he rested.  He rested and then I had to run out for a meeting in the afternoon so Phillip took over then. Annabelle didn't put up much of a fight, which I'm sure was nice for him.  She's usually not too hard to get to sleep for nap.

In the evening, Phillip and I lost track of time and didn't realize that it was past our normal dinner time until our hungry children reminded us.  As we tried to scrounge together dinner, we gave the kids whatever they would eat to satiate them.  Usually that means things like bananas, peas, tomatoes, watermelon (which had leftover from Annabelle's birthday cake).  Every now and then, it's fine to have a buffet of various of foods for dinner, even if they don't match.

September 23, 2011

Friday:

We are doing some home improvements on the house, and today I touched up the grout in the kitchen.  Phillip tried to keep the kids entertained as he sat with them on the other side of the baby gate.  Instead of being entertained, Annabelle stood at the gate and cried.  I don't think it's so much that she wanted me to hold her, I think it's becoming more so, she wants the option of being held by me.  Crazy kid.

After nap, we went over to Kelly and Noah's house. Kelly is a mom friend who I met through MOPS and Noah is a 3 year old little boy.  We brought a bag of frozen peas and a ziploc of frozen cranberries for snack to share.  I made the mistake of letting Annabelle play with the berries and as we pulled into their neighborhood, I heard a scattering sound in her car seat.  She had dumped the whole bag out n her lap.  Luckily they were frozen, so it wasn't too much of a mess.  When we got there, Annabelle was very social playing with all the new toys and at one point, she went over to Noah and gave him a hug. It was so cute.  She went potty on the potty before we left and then we went to Tinos for dinners since we had nothing thawed at home to prepare.  The kids cleaned their plates of gyro, lima beans, hummus, broccoli, cauliflower and hummus.

Bedtime wasn't as swell tonight.  I think Annabelle slept from 7:30-8:00, enough time for me to clean the bathrooms, and then she was up.  Bonny came over around 9:00 to sit and chat and Annabelle got up and joined us because I was done trying to fight her to sleep.  I kept thinking I got her back down, even after Phillip got home at midnight, and she kept waking.  If I held her, she would sleep, but as soon as I laid her down, she would wake.  So, I brought her in bed, where she slept next to me, and Phillip moved to the couch.  We're still figuring all this out as we go.

September 22, 2011

Thursday:

Annabelle had her 1 year well check at Dr. Kangos today.  She's doing great, but I think I could have told you that before we even went, but it's free to go and I like to sometimes look through the handouts they send home with you.

After we got home, the kids had lunch, then napped and when they woke up, we went out to the grocery store.  We only did a little bit of shopping, and I ended up doing it all at Walmart since I was there already.  Annabelle and Liam both got pretty hungry while we were out so they snacked on a package of watermelon chunks as we shopped.  Annabelle was done one she dropped a huge cube of it and it splattered all on the floor in multiple pieces.

We got home just in time to unload groceries and head out to Central Market to meet with an acupuncturist so she and I could talk about referring business to each other.  Since we were going to be at the playground, and I knew Annabelle wouldn't want to stay in my lap the whole time and instead move around, I put shoes on her for the first time.  I don't know if she really was all that into them.  She kept taking one of them off while she was in the car.  Sure enough when we got there, she got down and cruised from chair to chair going up to random people (as I kept a close eye on her) and introduced herself with a big smile.  She also did a bit of crawling trying to chase all the birds on the patio.  She didn't have much luck catching them, but had great luck turning her knees black.

We did bath after we got home and then bed.  Bedtime wasn't too much of a hassle, and both the kids were asleep by 8:30 or so.

September 21, 2011

Wednesday:

My car is still in the shop getting the lock fixed so we thought we could go out and get a rental car.  That ended up being a huge waste of time.  Poor kids.  They were stuck in their car seats while we drove around and made phone calls, only to end back at home with a very sleepy Anbel.  They are such troopers.

On the bright side, I plan on making Annabelle a watermelon cake for her birthday party on the 1st, and since today is her actual birthday...what better time to make a practice one and give her watermelon for lunch!?!? So we did.  Annabelle saw me cutting it and came over to my leg fussing.  It's not that pretty, the finished one I plan on making much prettier, but at least I got her name on it! Well, her nickname that is.  I put a candle on top and we all sang Happy Birthday with Liam's lead and then he helped her blow it out and then she sat in her highchair with eyes stuck on me cutting her slice of watermelon.  Once she got her helping, it was her best birthday ever!

September 20, 2011

Tuesday:

This morning, we headed out as a family to Whole Earth so Phillip and I could look at some new shoes.  I was a little worried about not having the wrap with Annabelle, but she is starting to become more and more adventurous, and I don't know how much longer I will able to wrap her anyway.  So, while Phillip tried on shoes, I sat with her, until she fought me to get down and then I sat her in a director's style chair they had in the shoe area.  I think her standing on the seat of it holding onto the arm and rocking made the associate a little nervous.  She would look up at him and grin away and he couldn't help but smile back.  He told her to be careful, but I don't think he knew who he was talking to.  'Careful' isn't really in her vocabulary as of now.  She's our little dare devil.

At night....it was another story.  Not so cute.  So it's the first night that Phillip is working till 11pm, so it's me doing bedtime with the kids.  We start a little after 7:00, and I rock Annabelle while giving her a bottle as I also read Liam (who is snuggled up in the chair with us) his story.  I think she is good an asleep, so I put Liam to bed and get to some much needed mopping in the kitchen.  Just before 8:00, I hear her wake.  I go in, and I kid you not, I was in that rocking chair almost two and a half hours!  Two of them consecutive.  Each time I laid her down, she would wake, if I left, she would cry.  It was a battle.  Finally, around 10:00 she was down and only woke once at night, and was only up half an hour or so.  I say that like it's nothing, but trust me, in the middle of the night after being up so late, it was terrible.  Maybe she's upset about turning one tomorrow?  Maybe she remembers what she was doing one year ago today and is not liking that?  Maybe she just hates me?  Maybe she's just a baby and gets to do annoying, sleep depriving, parent upsetting things just because she can? I think so.

September 19, 2011

Monday:

While last night wasn't the longest Annabelle had been up at night, it was by far the most trying.  I think the cold bug that everyone has had is trying to catch up to me, just I'm convinced I can't allow that.  So Annabelle wakes up, I bring her in our bed, Phillip goes to couch, she rolls around and flops around and plays while I try to sleep.  Her favorite thing to do is sit up and then throw herself backwards.  Not easy to sleep with, especially when her hard head lands right at the top of your cheekbone.  I furiously sit up, swaddle her, and take her to her bed, where I pray she will go back to sleep.  Nope.  Philip comes in to try to help, which doesn't really work.  She will stop crying when he rocks her, but other than that she is screaming wailing.  If I go in and just let her sit on my lap, she will stop.  So I'm stuck in the rocking chair, that squeaks an awful squeak, which I don't know if that's a better noise than her crying.  It's like a poor trade-off.  Finally, she gets to sleep after much crying and sobbing from her and me.

I don't know what her deal is.  She didn't nap either.  After I put her down, and finally get Liam down, I lay down, and then it seems like as soon as I close my eyes, I hear her cry.  I rock her, swaddle her, pat her, binky her, and give up after an hour.

When Liam woke, we decided to get out of the house to get a cup of coffee.  I put Annabelle in the bike stroller and Liam rides his scooter (until he got tired and joined her in the stroller) and we headed out.  When we get there, we have a snack and I get a cup of coffee and Liam a smoothie and Annabelle some melon.  We came home as soon as the kids started to get restless.

Phillip said that tomorrow he starts his 2pm-11pm shift tomorrow, so he said he would be able to help out a lot more at night, and hopefully I can sleep in a day or so to catch up on sleep.

September 18, 2011

Sunday:

We didn't go to church since everyone was feeling crummy and the idea of everyone getting dressed and out the door and Annabelle being left in the nursery, crying and messing up nap again didn't sit well with me.  So, we decided to do some household things instead.  Phillip worked on his bike for a bit while we all went in the garage with him.  Liam dumped out a bowl of dog food and of course Annabelle was drawn to it and began eating it.  She was much better off just sitting in the red wagon, contained and entertained.

While the kids napped, Phillip and I decided it would be neat to get the kitchen prepped for painting this week.  That turned into deciding to paint after the kids woke from their nap.  We had to block off the kitchen from them coming in, which Annabelle hated most of all, and soon it was time to get dinner going.  I made burgers with Annabelle wrapped on my hip, and then we all sat down to eat.  She was very ready for bed by the time it came around.

September 17, 2011

Saturday:

Annabelle is still having a hard time sleeping.  She still has a stuffy nose a little, but I'm starting to wonder if this is more out of habit that she is waking.  Phillip now has whatever the bug is, and is pretty run down as well.  I had to make a run to Party City and I figured it would be better if I took Annabelle with me instead of risking her waking up during her nap while I was gone.  She fell asleep in the wrap at the store and slept on the way home and didn't go back to sleep after we got home.  Oh well.  You can't win every nap time the way you want to.  Ain't that the truth!

September 16, 2011

Friday:

Today, Phillip and I were in the living room and we heard Annabelle cry in the kitchen.  We couldn't see her until we looked under the kitchen table.  She wasn't on the floor, she had climbed into the seat of the chair that was pushed in, under the table and got stuck.  I can see how she got stuck, but the climbing in the chair, is hard to grasp.  Once she saw that I was taking a picture, she laughed and smiled.  She is too crazy.

September 15, 2011

Thursday:

Last night, the only way Annabelle would sleep is in our bed, propped up on pillows.  Even then, she would at times wake up and crawl over to me and lay on me, fuss, and I'd have to sing a few repeats of the Itsy Bitsy Spider to get her back to sleep.  It seemed like every hour she was up, that's after she had a bout of being up for a couple hours in a row.  Liam also joined us and slept at the foot of the bed since Annabelle was doing acrobatic sleeping.  Phillip ended up on the couch at some point.  I don't think he would have gotten any sleep in there with the three of us.

We hung out at home today as we did our laundry.  It was nice to just stay in for a day.

September 14, 2011

Wednesday:

Annabelle has started to get a little bit of a runny nose.  Last night she was up quite a bit off and on.  Today she has the sniffles and in kinda grouchy.  We still ventured out to do our grocery store shopping.  I had a few other errands to run and each time I left the car Annabelle would scream.  It would take a few minutes to get her to calm down each time.  At HEB, she acted like she was really hungry so I bought a bunch of bananas and she ended up eating two of them!  We came home to drop the groceries off and I brought her in to go potty.  She didn't, but when we got to Sunflower, she did, which was nice.  I'm really glad that we are only using diapers now for nap and bedtime.  We've given up on cloth diapers since they seem to cause a rash each time she wears them, and instead of buying a whole new set of cloth diapers, we are just going to use disposable.  That works much better for us.

We got home and both the kids were quite ready for nap.  We didn't get them in bed till after 8:00.  I hope tonight is easier.

September 13, 2011

Tuesday:

This morning we had our first meeting of our Cherry Creek play group!  It was great to meet up with some new mamas and their little ones.  Annabelle really wanted to get out and play around on the ground, but once she started eating rocks, I figured it'd be best if I held onto her.  When we sat down for snack, she kept trying to climb on the table and drink all the other kids drinks.  It was a handful, but worth it to get out of the house for a morning.

September 12, 2011

Monday:

Today I went to the church MOPS group.  It's a group where they have childcare for all the age groups and the moms get together and have mom time, do a craft, and have discussions and sometimes a speaker.  I love it.  Annabelle wasn't too cool with it, but she got to be in a class where Nanny Frances was, so as long as she could hold onto her, she was fine.

September 11, 2011

Sunday:

We went to church this morning, and Annabelle went to her class.  I love the fact that she has a class to go to so that we can go to church, but she always ends up napping there, which sets us up for rough time during the afternoon.  Basically, she doesn't nap in the afternoon, and ends up falling asleep in the evening, which means a later bedtime.  Which is what happened.  Kinda irritating, but I'd rather her sleep than cry in the nursery even if it means a trying day for Mom and Dad.

September 10, 2011

Saturday:

We were determined to clean the garage out today and build shelves to organize it.  We had to think of what we were going to do with the kids.  Liam wouldn't be that much in the way, but for Annabelle, we decided it best to close the door from the laundry room to the kitchen and baby gate the door from the garage to the laundry room and leave her between the two with toys.  It worked for a couple hours, till she threw her toys over the gate and whined.  By then though, it was lunch time, so we went in.

After lunch, the kids woke and we had dinner and they went to bed.  No big hustle or bustle there, which was nice.

September 9, 2011

Friday:

The kids were eating watermelon today for snack.  Annabelle wasn't done by the time Liam was, so he decided to share the rest of his with her.  I think it may have been more than she could have ate.  She liked it though, and Liam thought it was pretty funny.

September 8, 2011

Thursday:

Yeah, I don't think all the teething remedies in the world would have helped her last night.  She was up for two or three hours and finally crashed in our bed after Phillip left for work around 4:30.  Liam came in our room around 7:00 and woke her up, and that meant having to actually get up.  It was slow moving in the morning, breakfast was delayed, but luckily, Liam can reach the fruit trays now so he grabbed an apple and after he was halfway done with it, gave it to Annabelle to much on, and then got another for himself.  He's so helpful.

She didn't really want to eat much more, which makes me think her mouth may really be hurting.  I think what she really wants is just for me to hold her non-stop.  I can do that most of the time, but it does start to wear.  It's almost like when kids don't feel well they become little energy suckers that suck the life out of you.  On top of that, you are usually sleep deprived and when you are not sleeping, you are listening to a baby scream.  It's a lot but, when you sit on the floor and don't think you can take anymore, they will crawl over to you and climb in your lap and sit down, look up at you and smile, and it makes it all worth it.

After Phillip got home, we went to the Zilker Botanical Gardens to take some pictures of the kids.  I figured I could kill two birds with one stone by doing her 1 year and his 3 years pictures at the same time.  It was fun to all be out together as a family.  Annabelle enjoyed trying to eat various leaves and twigs, and upon tasting them, offered the to me or Phillip.  How sweet of her to share.  I'm glad we got a lot of really good pictures.  Here are just a few of the really good ones we took.

September 7, 2011

Wednesday:

This morning we headed out to Butterfly Elements for the Mom's Gathering.  Annabelle broke her potty seat that attaches to the toilet, and while I was waiting for the new one to get here, Annabelle is in diapers while we are out.  She doesn't like this too much.  That didn't stop her mood of playing around and doing various yogic poses like down dog and a version of a seated swan.  She also couldn't stop terrorizing her brother, which is starting to get old.

We left a little after noon and went to Kerby Lane to eat.  It was by far the most self conscious eating out I have ever been to with either of my kids.  Annabelle is teething, and I forgot her teething tablets and gel and so all we had was ice.  She would scream and yell, and I'd give her an ice cube and she would eat it or throw it on the floor and instantly return to yelling again.  One lady came by and said how cute she was acting like a little Diva.  Not cool.  After half her lunch went on the floor, I decided she must be done eating and put her in my lap to keep her quiet.  Thankfully, she slept on the way home and went back to sleep once got there.  Marlene left a little after the kids went down, and Phillip got home shortly after.

Since it was Wednesday, I needed to do a little grocery shopping, so I took the kids out while Phillip went on a bike ride.  We only went to HEB, which was good because by the time we got home, we were hungry and ready to not be out any more.  We made dinner, and Annabelle had lacto-fermented sauerkraut for the first time.  I don't think she's a fan, even though she did try a couple bites of it.

At bedtime, she was back in her room, so we prayed for a better night.  With her teething necklace, teething tables and ora-gel, we thought she might be set.

September 6, 2011

Tuesday:

Annabelle had a really crappy night.  She woke around 5:30 and didn't go back to sleep....ever.  So, when 7:00 rolled around, I decided to stop fighting it and just get up with her.  Liam was awake as well, and he joined us shortly after.

Annabelle was crawling down the hall way when Marlene came out of her room and Annabelle stopped for a second, smiled and then let Marlene pick her up.  She's so loving and so sweet.  Marlene, Annabelle and I ran a couple errands and Annabelle napped for a part of the time.  I had the wrap and I guess it's been a long time since I've wrapped her, but putting her in the wrap it felt like I had been missing holding her so close.  She loved it, too.  For lunch we went to Texadelphia and Annabelle ate tomatoes, turkey and tiny, finger sized blobs of guacamole.  I had to get up to get some limes for my salad, and even though I was within eye sight, straight across the room, down the aisle, Annabelle let out a huge cry and reached her arm out to me.  It was almost heartbreaking.  As soon as I went back over and sat down though, she would stop and go right back to eating.  So temperamental.

We got home and the kids napped, and Marlene and I started making her baby shower invites.  I had to go in and get the printer out of the bedroom where Annabelle was and I ended up waking her.  Phillip nor I could get her back to sleep, so that meant her helping us with invitations.  Not that she was much help, but she was pretty calm hanging out in the wrap while we worked.

September 5, 2011

Monday:

We headed home from Gigi and Papas today, and I hoped that since we were heading out in the morning, that the kids would be awake for a while and then nap the second leg of the trip.  That didn't really happen..  Annabelle in particular only took a couple short naps and ended up being grouchy the rest of the time.  I think I need to  stop planning all this kid stuff, because they never really follow the plans you have. Go figure.

Before we left, we got word of some fires taking place out in Bastrop where Marlene and Jonathan live.  We by the time we got to Salado, we could see a massive smoke cloud just to the south east of us. It looked like a thunderstorm on the ground.  Very eerie.  We called them and told them if they needed a place to stay, they were more than welcome at our house.

We picked up Honey and headed home and after dinner, we put the kids to bed a little early since they had such poor naps.  Just after I put Annabelle down, Marlene called and said they were evacuating and were going to head on over to our house.  I went in and tried to keep Annabelle asleep as I removed her from her bed and moved her bed into our room.  She woke, of course, and it took a bit of effort putting her back to sleep, but it wasn't too long after the typical 7:30 that she was sleeping.

September 4, 2011

Sunday:

Annabelle woke around 8:30, grunting in her bed. I was hoping to catch her poop in the potty, but I think I was a little too late. she seems much better after a full night's sleep. We played, she hung out with Dad and Papa while Gigi, Liam and I went to get pizza for lunch, she napped and after her nap, we went swimming again. She enjoyed it even more today. She didn't like sitting in her floating thing, and would rather be in our arms. I laid her back on her back and she would put her hands behind her head and float on her back and just smile.

Liam got a Dr. set from Gigi and Papa, and he went to checking everyone's heart beat and loved doing this with Annabelle. He also was trying to see in her ear, and she really didn't want him to do that. She kept turning her head trying to eat it. This really annoyed him, but she didn't care. I think once he began to try to check her temperature with the thermometer in her ear, she had had enough and was flat out uncooperative with him. We thought it best to stop there.

We finally drug our camera out and got some other cute pictures too.

Bedtime was very easy. Bath, bottle, rocking a little, swaddle, binky and she slept.

September 3, 2011

Saturday:

We got home in the early evening, and Annabelle was very happy to see her Mommy and Daddy. I think when kids are sick they just want their parents, mainly their Mommies, and that's understandable and okay. She took a little nap, and was woken by Liam screaming, and not so sure if she liked that. She kept making a gagging sound like she needed to throw up, and ended up doing so after I held her.

She started acting like she was feeling a lot better and so we decided to head outside to swim, something I knew would make her feel better. She loves it so much. This time, she started blowing bubbles with me. Each time her mouth touched the water though, I think she startled a bit and would stop. She takes to playing in the water so well.

Bedtime was insane. She wouldn't sleep, and would just sit there and cry. We tried all the tricks, swaddling, binky, swaying, rocking, bottle, just letting her play, and nothing worked. She sat in the chair with Phillip and me and would sit up, cry, lay her head down, cry, fuss, grab her binky, cry. Finally she got tired out and just went to sleep.

September 2, 2011

Friday:

We planned on going out taking pictures at the botanical gardens before we headed out for Gigi and Papa's, but that just didn't happen. We had some issues getting Honey settled, and then when we were finally on the highway headed out, it was past 1:00. We did finally make it though in the early evening.

When we got to Gigi and Papa's, Annabelle felt a little warm. We didn't think much of it, so Phillip and I left to our hotel get-away. A few hours later, Mona called and said that she had a fever. It was not too high, around 102, so we weren't concerned, and we knew she was in good hands. I'm figuring it's the same thing Liam had a few days ago. I think she will be okay.

September 1, 2011

Thursday:

Annabelle slept till near 8:30 this morning. I think the late bedtime really made her need to catch up. She ate her breakfast and then, as she almost always does, began to throw it on the floor as a sign she was done. This is a time I really really really wish she would just use sign language. That would be a lot less messy.

When the first load of laundry was done in the wash, I wrapped her and we went out to hang it on the line. That's a huge pain with a one year old strapped to you. She kept grabbing the clothes and throwing clothes pins. If I had the option of putting her down I would, but I know, even if I put a blanket down, she'd just crawl off it and with my luck, she'd probably end up getting into some pile of dog poop, which would be really gross. So, I'm left with carrying her, confining her to an exersaucer, which she hates now because she want to get out and get around, or leaving her inside to pitifully scream and cry at the door feeling abandoned. So, I wrap her. By the time I finished hanging the first load, the second was done in the washer. So it really wasn't that big of a deal having to hang all the clothes.

It was lunch time, and we had leftover enchiladas, which Annabelle took to much better than Liam. I also gave her a cup with a little big of water in it to let her play with so that she could get the hang of using a cup. I really don't want to use sippy cups because, in my experience, they are just as messy as a regular cup. With Annabelle, since she throws stuff all the time, the valve pops out of the lid without warning, so you think it's not leaking everywhere when out of the corner of your eye you see her shaking it upside down, only to go over and find her and all her surrounding soaking with milk. So, we will use a cup. At least I know I will have a mess to clean when she spills it, and hopefully she will start to realize that if she tips it over, there will be no more milk. It's also one less part of a dish I will have to clean.

Wednesday:

We went to a Mom's Gathering at Butterfly Elements today, the group of doulas I work with, from 10:00 till a little after 12:00. The kids had a lot of fun. Annabelle was diaperfree the whole time and used the potty about 4 times while we were there. There was another mama there who had a little boy who was about 5 months old, and Annabelle was very into him. She would go over to him and at first poke his eyes, but then after some direction on what 'gentle' is, began to softly touch his head and hair. She's so sweet.

On the way home, both the kids fell asleep, which was almost an hour, so we went to Sunflower to do some grocery shopping. By the time we were done, all three of us were very hungry and tired. We came home, had some clementines, yellow watermelon, and grilled cheese to eat and then I tried to get the kids to go down for a second nap. Annabelle slept another 2 hours or so. I'm glad she did because after that, we had another grocery store to go to and were having company over for dinner as well, which meant a late bedtime.

At HEB, I did the grocery shopping, checked out and realized I had left my wallet at home. So, I had to leave the groceries, load the kids in the car, go home, get my wallet, go back to the store, unload the kids, go in, pay, load the kids again and then finally go home and unload the kids and groceries and start dinner. What a trip! I think I'm going to be better at making sure I have all I need for the store for now on.

Beth and Ari came over for dinner tonight and we had crock-pot beans, Lazy Enchiladas (which ended up being Lazy Burritos since I couldn't find corn tortillas). Annabelle kept throwing her food on the floor, so I assumed she was done. I let her down, and she kept coming over to me offering something that was grasped in the palm of her hand. About the third time, I decided to look and see what it was, and it was a Honey crunchy. In her mouth, were two more. For now, we are going to have to keep Honey's food and water out of her reach until we are able to teach her to leave it alone. What a pain!

By the time Beth and Ari left, it was a quarter to 9:00. Annabelle was very cranky and ready for bed. She's been sticking her finger in her mouth and, what looks like, pressing very hard on her gums in the back, and I think she may have another tooth coming in.
