February 28, 2011

Monday:

Something has been going on with Annabelle, and I think it's now changing. A few days ago, she'd been quite fussy when we put her down for both her evening nap and bedtime. She also stopped drinking as much milk. She dropped down to eating only 5-6 ounces per feeding, and sometimes, that was us really pushing and trying to get her to finish her bottle. Today and yesterday have been very different. She woke up, and 8 ounces, easy nap, another 8 ounces, another easy nap, then another 8 and a very calm evening. She did a little nap on the way home in her car seat, so to make sure she kept napping, instead of moving her out of her car seat to her bed, I simply unhitched the car seat from the base and put her car seat in her bed. She never even flinched. I turned the fan on and pulled the door almost closed. I later fed her after dinner, her usual last feeding and putting her to bed took only a little coaxing and the a binkie and swaddle. I don't know. She did start ooching backwards today. I left her on her blanket and then heard her fuss while I was helping Liam in the back and went in and she was on the tile, 2 feet back from where I left her. Maybe she was just working on this milestone? Maybe she's ready for solids soon? Maybe she's working on crawling? Teething? You never can tell with babies what is going on till they are past it. It's a year long strain of riddle after riddle.

Sunday:

Annabelle had a great evening outside in the fresh air. We first spent time in the green belt behind our house watching Dad and Liam fly Dad's pocket kite. I laid a little yellow blanket down and she just sat there and watched everything. We later moved to a park not far from here so the boys could fly some more kites in an open field. She again had lots of fun just watching everyone and playing with her toy. Once she got a little cranky around her evening nap time, I wrapped her and she cuddled a while and relaxed snuggled close to Mommy. After the sun set, we headed home.

Saturday:

BUSY day today! In the morning, Rayne came over and we went to the Farmer's Market in Sunset Valley. I of course, had Annabelle wrapped and one couple actually asked me how I tied it, so I showed them. Annabelle got to see all the new produce out for the season, but mostly, I think she enjoyed the close Mommy time. After that, we went to another Farmer's Market downtown, where we had to wake her from her nap and get her out of the car, back in the wrap. It was slightly drizzly, which was okay as the side of the wrap covered her head. Again, lot's of inquiries about the wrap and many people commented on how adorable she was, like she or I didn't know. I wasn't bothered though, I'm sure she loves the attention. The, we had to wake her up again to go to Hobby Lobby where I had Rayne wrap her so I could carry Liam. She fell asleep with Rayne and didn't udder a peep till we were on our way home and she was definitely letting us know how hungry she was. We got home, she ate, and then promptly fell asleep

Friday:

Today I brought out Liam's old high chair and set it up at the table for Annabelle to use. Tonight's dinner was the first where all sat at the table together as a family. Of course, Annabelle didn't eat anything, but had much fun sitting at eye level with everyone and playing with her rings. She did throw them on the floor a few times, and I got up and put them back on her tray. I hoping I'm not starting a bad habit, but if it makes for an easier dinner time, I'm all for it right about now.

Thursday:

Annabelle has gotten to where she can hold a hands and knees position for about a minute or so. As I write this is sounds like I'm 'working her out', but I'm not. I can tell when she's on Tummy Time and she sees a toy in front of her, just out of her reach, she will try and pull her knees under her and ooch forward. I've been putting her up on her hands and knees and rocking her back and forth making many silly noises, and she loves it. She thinks it's one of the funnest things in the world as of right now. I'm betting it won't be long till she's actually crawling.

Wednesday:

I'm am eternally thankful that my daughter is a good car seat sleeper. I had to wake her today from her nap to meet up for a volunteer day as we are getting ready for a Texans for Midwifery lobby at the capital. She went back to sleep for a bit in her car seat, when we got there, she played with the other kids, did a bunch of gabbing, and then was pooped by the time we got home and deeply asleep in her car seat despite the opening and closing of doors and honey barking. Maybe she will continue being a good sleeper for tonight.

Tuesday:

Tonight was very difficult to put Annabelle to bed. I don't know if she's coming up on a milestone, or if she's teething, ready for solids, I don't know. But it was a pain. It took well past 9:30 to get her down and sleeping and there were many visit to her room to reswaddle, rebinkie, cuddle, pat, etc. We will see how things work out tomorrow night, hopefully a little smoother.

Monday:

Annabelle turns 5 months today. She is growing so so much. Bonny noticed today that while Annabelle was having tummy time, she's begun to try and ooch. She gets up on her arms and pushes her feet against the ground to try and move forward. She doesn't get far obviously, but she has gotten very good at turning. I think that means a lot to her because now she can always see where the action is taking place. It bring a whole new component to Tummy Time.

Sunday:

The kids and I had some good play time on the floor today and Phillip was nice enough to catch a few snapshots of it. I can't get over how funny it is to Annabelle when she watches Liam be silly. Today she got a big kick out of him running and dancing in the living room, then quickly jetting over right next to her and tickling her. They really do play well together. I'm surprised she's so interactive at such a young age. She will just sit and watch him, no matter what he is doing she will always be enchanted by him.

Saturday:

We took a trip to The Home Depot today to get a ceiling fan for Annabelle's room. When we got home, we decided to make it a family affair setting it up. Annabelle waited in her bed, where she got a great view of all Dad was doing. She intently watched as the light in her room grew wings that later, she got to see, spun in circles and blew a nice breeze on her as she slept. We think it took a bit for her to get used to. Putting her to bed took a little more soothing than usual. I'm sure in time, she will get used to it.

Friday:

Annabelle and Liam had their first toy fight. Liam had this blue pull toy that makes all different kinds of noises. Annabelle showed intent interest in it and wanted to play with it so Dad moved it over towards her so that they could play together. Well, Liam was not okay with this. He took it away and began to cover it up with a blanket. I think she was very concerned by this based on her screaming reaction. Dad refereed and explain to Liam that if he isn't playing with the toy that he should share. He didn't want to at first, so he had Liam bring Annabelle some other toys of her to play with while he hoarded his toy. He got bored and left his toy, so Dad gave it back to Annabelle. She loved knocking the circles on top for it to make it make the different noises.

Thursday:

Today was the last day with Gigi and Papa. In the morning Gigi and Liam painted and Annabelle enjoyed watching every moment of it. It's so sweet how her whole face lights up when we talk to her. In the evening, we moved Annabelle's bed back to her room. We put Annabelle in her swing while we set the crib back up. She has grown so much since we last put her in it. Her legs now hang off the bottom of it and she doesn't look anything like a newborn anymore. My how the time flies.

Wednesday:

Everyday I'm amazed at how wonderful of a baby I have. Mona was ever surprised and she's raised two of her own. We went to 4 different grocery stores today and hauled her around from store to store, in and out of the car, in and out of the wrap, home, then she had to wait a whole 4 hours between feedings. WHEW! Was she wiped out by the time she was done with her bottle and all she needed was a tight snuggly swaddle and a binkie and she was good for a few hours. Of course, if the binkie comes out, she will somehow, pop her arms and and try to reach it. She isn't quite that coordinated yet, so she usually ends up hollering for someone to come in and replace it. But if that's the only hassle we have to go in her infancy from here on out...I'll take it. She's a great kid.

Tuesday:

Gigi was so nice today to take us out to lunch at The Brick Oven. We walked there and Annabelle rode in the wrap. When we got there I was reminded that we didn't have her car seat and she was going to have to sit in a high chair. She had never done this before, but she readily took to it. I balled up the wrap and put it behind her in case she wobbled backwards. She never did, but enjoyed sitting up, looking around at everyone, playing with some toy rings, and finding her fingers to chew on them. I think she likes the high chair much better than sitting in the car seat.

Monday:

Floor time has really sparked interest in all those under 3 feet tall in the house. We have the pillows around Annabelle in case she falls and Honey like to take that opportunity for a soft place to rest her head...and the rest of her body occasionally. Then Liam joined, with his entourage being his flashlight, Dog and BeeBoo.

Sunday:

Gigi, Papa and Mimi all left today in the morning. Annabelle had a pretty poor morning nap, but she definitely made up for it in the afternoon. Dad and I both took this opportunity to get some shut eye ourselves. She's still getting used to her bed being in our room, as we had to move it to open the guest room for our visitors. I think with time, she'll be alright.

Saturday:

Today Gigi, Papa, and Mimi came in for a visit. Annabelle was much more welcoming to the company than she has been in the past. I think she's warming up to them, which is great. Later this week, Gigi and Papa are going to come back in so Mimi is getting much of loving from Annabelle for now. She loves giving the smushy, cuddly, warm, sweet hugs. She's quite the cuddler.

Friday:

While doing the dishes today the kids played on the floor in the living room. Liam, has been quite attached to his cowboy hat the past few days, and as I looked over the counter, I noticed he'd decided to share it with Annabelle. I'm not sure what Annabelle thought of it, due to her not liking things on her head much, but based on the expression on her face, I think she enjoyed it.

February 10, 2011

Thursday:

Sitting up on her own has become a lot of fun for her. We still put pillows all around her while she's sitting and she still does occasionally fall over. She can play so much better with Liam, and has her hands free to put anything she wants in her mouth. Today, she was quite amused by Liam putting the red bucket on his head. Once he did, she looked over and gave a great smile. Luckily, I caught some snap shots of it.

February 9, 2011

Wednesday:

It's cold cold cold today! We were going to go to the grocery store, but it's far too cold to take both the kiddos out, especially Annabelle. So I went after Phillip got home and Annabelle and Liam had some Daddy time. We continue to call Annabelle 'TV Buddy', because she will just sit next to you and watch TV, like a little buddy. It's really cute. She's started to get pretty cranky in the evening, so we've really started doing anything we can to make her not cry. We find much more peace in the house that way.

February 8, 2011

Tuesday:

I really think Annabelle has started teething. She's got the drool, the restlessness, the yelling, the crankiness, the chewing, the putting everything in her mouth....now she just needs the teeth. Luckily, we have the Hylands Teething Tablets on hand. I think we may buy stock in that company. We really do use a lot of their products, especially during teething. The rough part about her teething so soon is that while her teeth do indeed hurt, she still lacks the coordination to effectively put stuff in her mouth to easy the pain. It's rough being a baby, hopefully she'll get through this soon.

February 7, 2011

Monday:

We went to the chiropractor today, and Annabelle had much fun loving and playing with one of the ladies there. They all complimented on great of a baby she was. One lady said that her third child was a really mellow baby too, and he stayed that way. I'm hoping for that too. Maybe she'll bring some 'Zen' to our house. Just another reason to fall in love with her.

Sunday:

Annabelle got both her new diaper covers and Babylegs in the mail. Gigi really picked out some great Babylegs. So we decided she could do some modeling. While taking pictures I noticed she is really getting quite good at sitting up. She can go over a minute without toppling. I told her she and I can work on building our ab muscles together.

Saturday:

This Saturday was quite the busy day for us. In the morning, Annabelle was wrapped and taken to ICAN with me, and she gots lots of compliments on the bunny hat that Rayne found at Goodwill. I'll have to get some pictures of it the next time she wears it. It's really cute. All the mamas and dads really enjoy her company. She really is a great baby, very calm, laid back, and usually doesn't cause that much of a ruckus. She slept most of the time in the wrap, which I think she gets maybe as much joy out it as I do.

Then, in the afternoon, we headed over to Rayne and Daniel's house to help them do some painting. Annabelle got pretty cranky towards the early evening, and after a good while of Rayne trying to put her down for a nap, Daniel stepped in and had her down with in a minute. I hope for them, they keep that teamwork up for when they have kids. Annabelle is good practice.

January 4, 2011

Friday:

Today we woke up with a light dusting of snow all over the ground. Not much, very light, but enough to motivate us to get out and build a snowman. Annabelle woke up from her nap just in time to get bundled and wrapped and then snuggled with me in Phillip's pea coat which, is just the right size for the two of us. It was cold and after only a short while, Annabelle was quite done with having the hat on her head. After being out with no hat for a few seconds, I think she realized how cold it was, so she and I went inside. Lots of fun.

January 3, 2011

Thursday:

Annabelle had a pretty usual day. We made formula in the morning, and then did laundry in the afternoon. Nothing too exciting. She napped, ate, played, laughed, etc. Not saying that I don't absolutely enjoys those parts, I do, most of the time, at least, but nothing out of the usual happened. But, to be honest, part of me really can't find it mundane when I walk into the room, she looks up at me, and I talk to her and her whole face lights up. Like I'm the best thing that she could imagine. Granted right now, as long as I keep the milk, binkys diaper changes, and cuddles coming, I pretty much am. She does the same thing with Phillip too. I think it's due to us being so familiar and she really does know that we take care of her and love her that she gets so enthused. She really is the sweetest.

Wednesday:

Let's talk about Tummy Time. Annabelle is getting more used to it, though sometimes she finds it quite uncomfortable. Liam usually comes over and lets me know this by coming over and saying "Ann-Belle not like Tubby Time". So now, I've shown him how to roll her over on her back. Annabelle is always quite grateful of this and usually thanks him with a smile and occasionally a little chuckle. We have a blue blanket folded up as her mat, and Honey also seem to enjoy it. She usually give Annabelle a few sniffs, and Annabelle finds much enjoyment out of her being there. She stares at her, and watches her get up and down. And sometimes it really nice when Annabelle is just laying down because there is a nice warm spot where Honey was laying. Perfect for a little baby. I think Honey is starting to bond with Annabelle.

February 1, 2011

Tuesday:

Annabelle had lots of fun at Play Group today. There was another baby there who I think she found very interesting. I don't think she has ever seen another baby that close up. He was about 9 months old, so much more mobile than she is, but I think seeing another little, bald human being ooching around the floor was quite interesting for her. She doesn't play much yet, and Liam kept wanting all the toys that she had, so I had to do a little coaching on how to share with a teething baby. When we got home, she had a very long nap, and then was quite vocal towards the evening letting us know that it was indeed time for another nap. I think days that we have a lot going on, she get more tired towards the end of the day. I can understand that. I think she's going to grow up and be a very expressive little girl.
